This section prohibits insurance coverage determinations from being made solely on the basis of AI or automated decision tool outputs. Where AI is used as an input to a coverage determination, the insurer must ensure that a human reviewer with override authority meaningfully reviews the decision under procedures the insurer itself creates. The two obligations work together: the sole-reliance ban sets the floor, and the meaningful-review requirement establishes the process for any AI-assisted determination.

(d) 5 The board shall be required to adopt and shall have the authority to promulgate rules and regulations governing and establishing the standards necessary to implement this Code section, specifically including but not limited to the disciplining of a physician who fails to comply with this Code section.
This section applies the same sole-reliance ban and meaningful-review requirement to healthcare decisions broadly — not just insurance, but any care, treatment, service, or procedure relating to physical or mental health. The Georgia Composite Medical Board is charged with establishing review procedures, and the section expressly authorizes the Board to promulgate implementing rules and discipline physicians who fail to comply. This makes the healthcare provision the only one of the three domains with an explicit disciplinary enforcement hook.

This section extends the same AI sole-reliance prohibition and meaningful-review requirement to public assistance decisions — specifically the award, denial, reduction, or termination of benefits. The review procedures are to be established by the Board of Human Services. The section also amends the existing Code Section 49-4-11 to re-letter the existing public assistance provisions and insert the new AI-specific restrictions as new subsections (d) and (e).
