(5) Title 13, Chapter 72, Artificial Intelligence Policy Act, is repealed [May] July 1, [2025] 2027.
This section amends Utah's general repeal-date schedule for Title 13 provisions. The only operative change is in subsection (5), which moves the repeal date of the Artificial Intelligence Policy Act (Title 13, Chapter 72) from May 1, 2025 to July 1, 2027. The remaining subsections are unmodified recitations of existing repeal dates for unrelated Title 13 chapters.
The amendment preserves the existing AI Policy Act's substantive obligations without modification and creates no new compliance duties.
(1)–(2) This bill takes effect: (1) except as provided in Subsection (2), May 7, 2025; or (2) if approved by two-thirds of all members elected to each house: (a) upon approval by the governor; (b) without the governor's signature, the day following the constitutional time limit of Utah Constitution, Article VII, Section 8; or (c) in the case of a veto, the date of veto override.
Section 2 establishes the bill's effective date. The default operative date is May 7, 2025. An alternative earlier effective date applies if the bill is approved by a two-thirds supermajority of both chambers — in that case, the bill takes effect upon gubernatorial approval, expiration of the constitutional signing window, or veto override.
